The second season of the FIA World Endurance Championship proved to be an even bigger success than 2012 with more cars and seven of the championships not being settled until the last round in Bahrain.

Audi once again proved to be the benchmark for the rest of the grid, the German manufacturer securing a second world title. This year it was the drivers of the No.2 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Loïc Duval, who became the FIA World Endurance Drivers Champions after a fantastic season that saw them lift the 24 Hours of Le Mans trophy and also the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy at the start of the season at Silverstone.

Toyota once again provided Audi with some stiff opposition and secured that elusive first racing victory at the final round in Bahrain to start off its season preparations for 2014 on a high note.

The FIA World Endurance Cup for GT Manufacturers and GT Drivers went down to the wire with Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche battling it out right to the final chequered flag of the season. Ferrari secured the manufacturers title, narrowly winning over Aston Martin, while Gianmaria Bruni became the first driver to lift the new Drivers’ World Endurance Cup.

Rebellion Racing secured its second LMP1 Privateer trophy, while the No.35 OAK Racing Morgan took the LMP2 team and Martin Plowman, Ricardo Gonzalez and Bertrand Baguette secured the drivers crown to go with LMP2 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Four different cars took victories during the year and the inter-class competition was both fierce and entertaining.

Last, but certainly not least, the LMGTE Am Driver Champions for 2014 were Jamie Campbell-Walter and Stuart Hall in the No.96 Aston Martin Vantage V8 while 8 Star Motorsports took the team title in what turned out to be the narrowest of margins in any of the categories. The AF Corse-managed American team claimed championship honours by three points over Aston Martin.

Eight races on four continents provided the perfect stage for the FIA WEC to perform on. The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas was the only new venue on the calendar and provided the perfect backdrop for the North American leg of the FIA WEC World Tour.
