We are deep in the middle of prize-giving and awards season, and that of the British Racing Drivers’ Club was held on Monday in London.  Owners of the Silverstone Circuit in the UK, the Club was founded in 1928 and has been recognising excellence in British and Commonwealth motorsport since that time.

The attendance of recently crowned FIA World Endurance Champions and BRDC Members, Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley, was the highlight of the Annual Awards, while the ACO and WEC were represented respectively by President Pierre Fillon and CEO Gérard Neveu.

Porsche’s first world champions since 1986 each received a Special BRDC Gold Star from the Club’s President, Derek Warwick – himself a former winner of Le Mans in 1992 – for winning the FIA World Endurance Championship and were joined by their team mate, Timo Bernhard.

Also honoured were 24 Hours of Le Mans winner with Porsche, Nick Tandy, who received the ACO Plate from Pierre Fillon on behalf of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest for being the highest placed British driver at the French classic.

Another special award went to Audi Sport’s André Lotterer, Marcel Fässler and Benoît Tréluyer for the driver or team achieving the highest combined finishing record at the 6 Hours of Silverstone and 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Another prize, the impressive Woolf Barnato Trophy, went to WEC and ELMS entrant JOTA Sport, and was collected by Mitch Evans who recently took part in the first official Rookie Test in Bahrain.
