One year until the WEC visits South Africa!

In exactly one year’s time (6 February 2021), the FIA WEC will visit the continent of Africa for the very first time as the World Championship prepares for the first ever 6 Hours of Kyalami.

The event will be staged at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, in the business heart of Gauteng between Pretoria and Johannesburg.

The original circuit was built in 1961 and is considered the home of motorsport in Southern Africa. Indeed, the iconic venue has hosted 20 Formula 1 races and has also staged numerous international endurance and motorcycle events over the years.

In 2015, the entire facility underwent the largest upgrade in its history. Alterations included a complete resurfacing of the 4,522 km circuit to international specifications, changes to the layout, circuit safety upgrades, improvement of all spectator areas and a major refurbishment of the pit building to include world class conferencing and exhibition facilities.

Stay tuned for more updates about the WEC’s South African debut over the upcoming months.
