Not many drivers can claim championship titles in single-seaters, rallying and sportscars but Toyota Racing’s Stéphane Sarrazin has always liked plenty of variety in his racing life. Having won races in LMP1 in the ALMS, LMS and ILMC, the Frenchman is looking for his first FIA WEC victory in LMP1 to add to his 2012 LMP2 successes.
1. How have you kept race fit during the summer?
I have had quite a busy summer, keeping fit training on both the (road cycling) bike and swimming. I’ve also had 3 races with the Grand Am Rolex series in the USA with 8Star Motorsports.
2. Which track are you most looking forward to racing at in the second half of the WEC season?
I really like São Paulo as I did F1 there [in 1999 with Minardi] and it’s a good memory for me. I won a championship there with Peugeot in LMP1 (2007 Le Mans Series) and I also won there last year with Starworks in LMP2!!!! I like also all the others tracks; we haven’t raced at them a lot and that makes it more challenging.
3. With five races on three continents in the next few months, how do you cope with the travelling and jet lag?
I never had any problem with jet lag. We fly a lot every year all over the world and I’m used to it.
4. What is the best thing about racing in São Paulo?
I like this kind of track, with variations uphill and downhill as well as some long corners. It’s a good track.
