No1 selling French DJ ‘The Avener’ will be the WEC Music Ambassador for the 2015 season playing a special set in the Fan Area at each of the WEC rounds this season, starting with The Prologue on the 28 March at Le Castellet.
He will also meet the fans, be seen around the paddock and on the grid to help promote the World Endurance Championship through his music, which will be one of the highpoints of the entertainment at each event this year.
The Avener said: "I'm very happy to be with the WEC for the 2015 season, and thus be able to share my music with fans of Endurance Racing around the world!"
Jean Luc Bres, CEO of Universal Music & Brands, said, "I am delighted with this new strategic and original partnership between the WEC and Universal Music & Brands, which demonstrates the growing interest in the links between sport and music.”
Gérard Neveu, CEO of the World Endurance Championship, said: “This is great news for the WEC as there has always been a strong connection between music and motorsport. To have a no1 selling artist as the WEC Music Ambassador is a real pleasure and The Avener will be a focal point in the paddock for the fans that he will attract to our events. We will work together to promote his music to our fan base around the world and The Avener will introduce Endurance Racing to his fans in the many countries we visit. We look forward to working with Universal Music & Brands and our new Music Ambassador in 2015.”
The Avener
A seasoned producer after having had multiple artistic collaborations, The Avener however prefers to talk more about his current and future project. A solo traveler, he draws inspiration mainly from his different experiences around the world. At the end of 2013, combining his love for Deep House and Electro as well as influences from rhythm'n'blues and Soul that go way back, The Avener produced "Fade Out Lines", a nice electronic indie melody which was as intoxicating as it was sexy; tones as classy as unifying.
The single rapidly took off in Europe and the rest of the world. Within weeks, "Fade Out Lines" ranked #1 in digital sales in over 17 countries, #9 on iTunes Europe, #24 on iTunes Worldwide and on Shazam it ranked #6 in the world. With over 11 million views on Youtube, "Fade Out Lines" created a surprise end to 2014!
As The Avener said himself: “Fade Out Lines is hard to define. It’s blues with jazz, folk and funk influences, and electronic instruments. It has feelings, emotion and nostalgia, but a lot of energy, too.”
Building on this triumph, The Avener hasn’t waited to move on from this success with the release in January of his album "THE WANDERINGS OF THE AVENER", which went directly to #1 (physical and digital) with more than 10,000 sales in the first week.
