ProSpeed enjoys successful test in LMGTE Am

The Belgian ProSpeed Competition team profited from two good days of testing at The Prologue, the official FIA WEC pre-season tests which were held at the Circuit Paul Ricard on 28/29th March.  The team is entering a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, manned by the French trio of Emmanuel Collard, François Perrodo and Matthieu Vaxivière, in the LMGTE Am category of the championship.

The two days ran smoothly for ProSpeed which the team feels bodes well for the battle in this high ranking and highly competitive category. The first round of the WEC takes place during the Easter weekend; however it was soon apparent in the south of France that the battle in the World Endurance Championship will be highly intense this coming season.

The differences between the various cars and teams in LMGTE Am were exceptionally minimal, something that could also be said about the entire GT field, including the works cars competing in the LMGTE Pro. In more than one session ProSpeed Competition was the fastest Porsche entered in the LMGTE Am and such was in a position to take on their immediate rivals in this category. The two-day test sessions was not only to fine tune top speed, but also to allow the three drivers and the team to improve fine-tuning matters amongst themselves.

Rudi Penders (ProSpeed Competition Team Principal): “The test ran smoothly, both on the technical as also the logistic fronts. I believe we are well prepared for the season to come, even though I did notice after several laps how intense the WEC level has become. This undoubtedly is the cream of endurance racing, and victory or losing merely depends on some very fine details. All the teams are professional and to differentiate one from the other everything has to be 105% perfect. On the other hand the WEC is a brilliant commercial and marketing platform, as shown by the 200 journalists and 8000 spectators present during the second day of the test sessions!”

François Perrodo (Driver - #75 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR):  “One of the key elements of the championship is the homogeneity of the drivers’ trio. The professional drivers, in our case Manu Collard, are all equally matched and it will therefore be down to the other two team members to make the difference. The better the team’s homogeneity the better the overall success will be. I’m therefore delighted to be able to work together with the up-coming young Matthieu Vaxivière and my friend Manu. I truly believe that with our trio we can definitely aim for a podium.”

Matthieu Vaxivière (Driver - #75 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR): “I have just turned 19 years old and for me this a dream that has already become a reality. I can continue my career in the single-seater world (Matthieu is completing a season in the Formula Renault 3.5), but can simultaneously compete in a full World Endurance Championship season. For a French driver it is also an enormous privilege to be able to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I have been exceptionally well welcomed into the team and cannot wait for our Silverstone round.”
