Toyota and Audi Head to Head in Official Test

 

 

Toyota and Audi were head to head in today's official test at Fuji International Speedway ahead of this weekend's Japanese round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. 

Toyota were quickest in this morning's three hour session, with Kazuki Nakajima posting a lap time of 1:29.088, 0.6 seconds ahead of the nr2 Audi R18 of Allan McNish and Tom Kristensen.  This afternoon saw the nr1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro post the fastest time of the day, just 0.015 seconds quicker than the Toyota's morning time, with André Lotterer posting a 1:29.073 lap.  Tom Kristensen took the nr2 car to within 0.057 seconds of his teammate but was just slightly slower than the Toyota's first session lap.

In the LMP1 Privateer class it was the JRM HPD-Honda than was quickest in both sessions with David Brabham taking the Honda-powered car under 1m30 with a 1:29.963 lap, 1.3 seconds quicker than the nr15 Oak Racing Pescarolo-Honda.

The battle for the top of the LMP2 timesheet came out in favour of the nr25 ADR Delta Oreca Nissan with John Martin posting the fastest time of the day of 1m32.807, 0.5 seconds ahead of the nr24 Oak Racing Morgan.  The nr44 Starworks Motorsports HPD posted the fastest LMP2 lap of the morning session.

The nr97 AMR Aston Martin Vantage was the only GTE Pro contender testing at Fuji, with Stefan Mucke setting the best time of the day with a 1m41.459 lap.

In the GTE Am class four cars took part in the official test with the nr57 Krohn Racing Ferrari heading the class in both sessions. Michele Rugolo was the quickest driver setting a best lap time of 1m42.169, 0.6 seconds ahead of the nr70 Larbre Compétition Corvette.
