6H Fuji: 2 Hour Race Report
The main headlines from the first two hours of racing at the 6 Hours of Fuji, round 2 of FIA WEC Season 8.
LMP1
• Sébastien Buemi hands leading No. 8 Toyota TS050 HYBRID over to Brendon Hartley who continues to head LMP1 cars
• Sister No. 7 car fronted by Mike Conway ahead of No. 1 Rebellion Racing R13 with Norman Nato taking control at the wheel
• Team LNT’s sister cars fourth and fifth, with No. 6 Ginetta making steady progress through LMP field to sit one lap behind the sister No. 5 car
LMGTE Pro
• No.95 Aston Martin Vantage with Nicki Thiim at the wheel leads the LMGTE Pro class, 2.7s ahead of Alex Lynn’s No.97 sister car
• Latter Aston struggling for grip after only taking left hand tyres in first pit stop
• No.92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Kevin Estre holds 3rd, with two AF Corse Ferraris in 4th and 5th
• No.91 Porsche GT Team entry incurs a drive through penalty for constant abuse of track limits, dropping it down the LMGTE Pro order
LMP2
• High Class Racing leads LMP2 after Danish squad driven by Anders Fjordbach overtakes hour one leaders Racing Team Nederland in latter stages of second hour
• Jackie Chan DC Racing move up to second after Will Stevens overtakes third-placed Racing Team Nederland with Frits Van Eerd at the wheel
• United Autosports and Racing Team Nederland in close battle for third spot as race approaches third hour
• No. 36 Signatech Alpine A470 car driven by Pierre Ragues spins at T1 at start of second hour, knocking the French team to back of LMP2 field
LMGTE Am
• Ben Barker in the No.86 Gulf Racing Porsche 911 RSR, sporting a new black and orange livery, has been on a charge and now leads LMGTE Am class.
• Briton is 14 seconds ahead of No.83 AF Corse Ferrari of Emmanuel Collard
• Long-time class leader TF Sport out of sequence with competitors due to a different pit stop strategy
• After being tagged into a spin by an LMP2 car, No.62 Red River Sport Ferrari subsequently came back into garage for attention
