WEC meets Rugby World Cup!

With the Rugby World Cup taking place in Japan at the same time as the 6 Hours of Fuji, this afternoon saw the FIA WEC stars test their rugby kicking skills on the race circuit.

Drivers at Fuji represent 11 different countries competing in the Rugby World Cup and several of the WEC drivers lined up on the start line to see who could kick a rugby ball the furthest distance.

Gulf Racing’s Ben Barker did the English proud as he kicked the furthest, with Aston Martin Racing’s Nicki Thiim runner-up.

Representing Japan, Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Kazuki Nakajima kicked the ball third furthest.  Unfortunately New Zealand’s Brendon Hartley wasn’t able to replicate the same kicking performance as reigning World Cup Champions, the New Zealand All Blacks!

Tomorrow the drivers will return to their day job as they prepare for the first free practice session which gets underway at 11h00 local time.
