As the FIA World Endurance Championship reaches 100 races this weekend in Japan, in addition to celebrating the past, the pioneering series will also look to the future, shining a spotlight on hydrogen both on and off-track at the 6 Hours of Fuji (26-28 September).
During the 2025 edition of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans back in June, MissionH24 – a collaborative programme between the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) and H24Project – announced its partnership with multiple world championship-winning outfit TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR).
Both entities are committed to the deployment of hydrogen in racing and for universal mobility, and have joined forces to develop the aerodynamics and cooling of the future H24EVO.
Against the backdrop of the penultimate round of FIA WEC’s 2025 campaign at Fuji Speedway, MissionH24 and TGR will share the progress of their work during a special press conference – due to take place at 12:35 local time (05:35 CET) on Saturday, 27 September – complemented by a specially-dedicated area in the fan zone for spectators.
Hydrogen will also be featured on-track in Japan. The H2 prototype category is set to bolster the grid at Le Mans and in the FIA World Endurance Championship from 2028, and demonstrations are already being organised to demonstrate the potential of this new technology. On Saturday at Fuji, a hydrogen-powered bus will join the FIA WEC Hypercar and LMGT3 field in completing a lap during the ‘Circuit Safari’ lap – a world first!
