Kamui Kobayashi joins AF Corse in LMGTE

Japanese driver Kamui Kobayashi has joined the ranks of Scuderia Ferrari and AF Corse for the FIA World Endurance Championship.  It is the first time that an Asian driver has played a part in the history of the Prancing Horse.

After 60 F1 Grands Prix with Toyota and Sauber, Kobayashi - like Bruni Senna from Aston Martin - is making the switch to the ever-strengthening and highly competitive world of GT racing.  His first event will be the 6 Hours of Silverstone on 14th April, a circuit he is very familiar with, and he will be testing with AF Corse before then to familiarise himself with the LMGTE Ferrari 458.

Kamui said:  "“I am pleased to be able to announce today my new role. “It’s an honour for me to become part of the Ferrari family.

"It will be the first time that I compete in endurance races in a championship featuring GT cars. I can'’t wait to start working with AF Corse and I really hope I can aim for the title, along with my team-mates. I will work hard and give my all in this new chapter in my career, knowing I can count on the support of all my fans."
