24H Le Mans: Balance of performance LMGTE

24H Le Mans: Balance of performance LMGTE
30/05/2013

The LMGTE category always delivers a close and exciting battle from the first to the very last lap of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the 90th anniversary edition – round three of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship – could offer competitors and fans one of the best yet.

This year at Le Mans, Aston Martin, Corvette, Ferrari, Porsche and Viper will all be represented by factory teams with many top-class driver line ups among the 12 entries in the LMGTE Pro category.  Three Aston Martin Vantage V8s and three Ferrari 458 Italias will be competing against two Corvette C6.Rs, two Porsche 911 RSRs and two Viper GTS-Rs.

In LMGTE Am there will be 13 entries from teams representing five different nations, and the class will see two Aston Martins, two Corvettes, five Ferraris and four Porsches going head-to-head.

With the 24 Hours of Le Mans in view, the Endurance Committee has released its latest decisions on the Balance of Performance for LMGTE.  The changes to technical configurations that were in effect during the recent round of the WEC at Spa are: in the Pro category, the Aston Martin Vantage will receive an additional 10kg of ballast, while the Porsche 911 RSR will run with a larger, 28.6mm air restrictor (+0.3mm).  The same change also applies to the German cars entered in the Am class, the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.

There are no changes for any of the other manufacturer models and the changes are with immediate effect.
