24H Le Mans: Braking zones for 24 Heures du Mans
20/06/2013

With a circuit length of almost 14km, the use of Audi and Toyota’s hybrid power systems at the Circuit des 24 Heures is critical to achieving as fast a lap time as possible.

As is the case at every round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, specified ‘braking zones’ are determined for each circuit, at which the energy recuperation hybrid technology can be employed.

Simulation tests were conducted to predetermine the seven braking zones for the 24-hour event.  The entry of each zone will be considered to be at the 50m board before the curve.

Every curve is identified by a Marshall Post number which is located in the nearest proximity of the curve (corner name is also available on the map).

- Braking zone #1 : MP # 8 - Dunlop Chicane

- Braking zone #2 : MP #42 - 1st Chicane

- Braking zone #3 : MP #60 - 2nd Chicane

- Braking zone #4 : MP #76 - Mulsanne corner

- Braking zone #5 : MP #96 - Indiannapolis corner

- Braking zone #6 : MP #115b - Porsche corner

- Braking zone #7 : MP #131 - Ford Corner
