24H Le Mans: ORECA's Hugues de Chaunac honoured at Le Mans
20/06/2013

Each year a key figure in sports car racing is honoured by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest and awarded the ‘Spirit of Le Mans’ Trophy.  The award is made to an individual who has displayed the ethereal quality that all competitors and fans can immediately recognise.

This year, the 90th of the great 24 Heures du Mans, it is ORECA's Hugues de Chaunac who is the recipient and he was presented with his honour earlier today.  The team owner and constructor is celebrating his own anniversary this year, his company marking 40 years in business.

Hugues de Chaunac: “It’s a great honor and proud moment to receive the Spirit of Le Mans trophy.  I’m especially happy because 2013 is a very special year : the 90 years of the Le Mans 24 Hours and the 40 years of ORECA.

"During my first visit to Le Mans, as a spectator during the Matra years, I dreamed of being a part of this legendary race. Forty years later I can say that I realized that dream : the path that ORECA has taken has often been linked to Le Mans, and here it is again today."
