The fantastic string of victories for G-Drive Racing by Delta-ADR and the ORECA 03 LMP2 continues! By taking the win at the 6 Hours of Bahrain, the Russian team gave the ORECA 03 its fourth LMP2 success in the last five race weekends, and sixth in the FIA World Endurance Championship season.
This makes the ORECA chassis the most successful car in LMP2. The day before, Pecom Racing took another pole position and on Saturday had the fastest lap of the race in class. Following another hard fought battle, Roman Rusinov, Mike Conway and John Martin finished on the third step of the overall podium, joining TOYOTA Racing and Audi Sport!
Longtime leaders, Nicolas Minassian, Pierre Kaffer and Luis Perez Companc were unable to capitalise after a race incident in the fifth hour of the race. The trio ended the day in seventh place, behind the No.25 Delta-ADR entry, which was also a front runner during the first third of the race.
“The team did such a great job for us,” said Roman Rusinov of the No.26 G-Drive Racing entry. “We have been competitive all weekend. All the hard work we have invested this season has paid off and it’s great to finish third on the overall podium and to win our class. There are not many races where you get to go on the overall podium and the class podium."
