6H Sao Paulo GTE 180-Minutes: Ferrari and Aston Martin continue to hold station in GTE
30/11/2014

The second 90 minutes of the race has seen more action and incidents up and down the field, with higher temperatures testing the cars and their drivers to the limit.  Davide Rigon has completed a double stint in the No.71 AF Corse Ferrari in the lead of the LMGTE Pro class, with the No.92 911RSR of Fred Makowiecki chasing hard in second place.

In third, and running his second one-hour stint in the race is local star Fernando Rees in the No.99 Aston Martin Vantage V8, with the second Porsche Team Manthey entry close behind him until forced to make an early pit stop for a puncture.  The top three are separated by just 6 seconds, with Stefan Mucke in the No.97 Aston Martin and Gimmi Bruni in the No.51 AF Corse Ferrari in fifth and sixth in the LMGTE Pro category before the third round of scheduled pit stops.

Aston Martin continues to hold station in the lead of the Am class, the No.98 of Paul Dalla Lana profiting from the drive through penalty which its sister car (No.95) had to take for abusing track limits and a spin by David Heinemeier-Hansson.  The Danish-crewed car is currently third but the No.75 Prospeed Porsche of Matthieu Vaxivière which has been in second, has had to serve a drive through penalty for a collision with the No.90 8Star Motorsports entry which took place one hour and 50 minutes into the race.

Brazilian legend Emerson Fittipaldi has had a short introduction to the FIA WEC as, just over 10 laps into his stint, his No.61 Ferrari slowed and pulled over to the side of the track.  Fittipaldi managed to limp back to the pits but the car has not yet made it back on track.
