The 2015 World Endurance Championship is here with more cars, famous drivers and lots to see and do for the whole family to enjoy. With just one week before the 6 Hours of Silverstone (10-12 April), which is the opening round of the eight race world championship, there is a great opportunity to witness the spirit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the UK.
As well as hosting the race for the 31 cars that will compete in the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, including star names such as Mark Webber, Anthony Davidson and Marc Gene and manufacturer entries from Porsche, Audi, Toyota, Ferrari and Aston Martin, Silverstone will also be the stage for a four hour race for the European Le Mans Series and three races for the FIA F3 European Championship.
In addition there is a full weekend of entertainment on offer with plenty to keep all the family enthralled during each day:
The Avener: No1 selling French DJ ‘The Avener’ will be the WEC Music Ambassador for the 2015 season playing a special set, including his no1 selling single ‘Fade Out Lines’, in the Fan Area at each of the WEC rounds this season. ‘The Avener’ will meet the fans, be seen around the paddock and on the grid to help promote the World Endurance Championship through his music, which will be one of the highpoints of the entertainment at Silverstone.
Meet the Drivers: Get an autograph, grab a ‘selfie’ or just shake hands with your favourite drivers in the open paddock. The ELMS Autograph Session will take place on Saturday, with the WEC Autograph Session on Sunday, but this session will be limited to the first 2000 pre ordered entrance tickets.
Animal Action Sports Show: A 6 man show including a Dirt Jumper, BMX, Scooter rider, Trials rider and Motor Cycle. As well as watching the skills of the riders, visitors will also be able to ‘have-a-go’ in the downtime between performances and try out their basic skills on a push bike.
Bootcamp Challenge Assault Course: Are you up for the challenge? The Bootcamp Challenge Assault Course is an inflatable 29m assault course for the whole family to enjoy.
Electric F1 Go-Karts: These electric Go-karts provide kids the opportunity to test their skills as a race driver around a specially designed inflatable track with a changeable speed limit between 4-10mph.
Funfair: A Starflyer will be the star attractions in the funfair area and will give riders a bird’s eye view of the whole of Silverstone.
Porsche Car Display: A display of Porsche cars will greet visitors to the 6 Hours of Silverstone.
Land Zorbing: Participants enter the large zorb balls and can have the experience of a lifetime as they traverse the inflatable course.
Racing Bug: The whole family can get the ‘Racing Bug’ on the purpose built 6m x 10m track. Up to ten racers in each session battle to be the winner and set the fastest lap of the event. Find out if you are the next Anthony Davidson.
Popbang Colour: Be amazed as the worlds of Art and Automotive combine through the artwork of contemporary British artist Ian Cook. Ian paints with remote control cars and will create a piece of artwork at the event.
Heilsa Therapies: If you feel the need to unwind at the 6 Hours of Silverstone then visit the Heilsa Therapies area for one of the treatments on offer including Aromatherapy Massage, Hopi Candling and Reflexology
Silverstone Rookie Ride: Rookie Ride provides an opportunity to experience riding a scooter and develop skills in a safe and fun environment. Rookie Ride sessions last for 15 minutes and are suitable for people aged 11+.
Coventry Corps Marching Band: The City of Coventry Corps of Drums was formed in 1947 and continue to provide their highly professional performances and impress audiences with their precision marching and musical arrangements.
Live Stage Entertainment - CARTEL: On Sunday 12 April Britain’s Got Talent finalists ‘Cartel’ will be at Silverstone. The dance crew became a firm favourite with viewers of the high profile reality TV show in 2014.
TITAN the ROBOT: Meet Titan the Robot and be entertainment by his unique blend of comedy, street theatre and music.
Indoor Entertainment Area: Hall 1 of the Silverstone Wing will become the entertainment area at the 6 Hours of Silverstone. With a cinema, photobooth, face painting, a treasure hunt and lots more to keep everyone entertained throughout the weekend.
Giant Screens: Watch the racing action on giant screens at Woodcote, Stowe, on the International Pit Straight, in Hall 1 of the Wing and in the entertainment area. Visitors need not miss any of the action while enjoying other aspects of the 6 Hours of Silverstone.
THE 6 HOURS OF SILVERSTONE
As well as the opening round of the World Endurance Championship, the race schedule at Silverstone also includes the opening round of the 2015 European Le Mans Series and three races by the FIA F3 European Championship.
Tickets are now on sale for the 6 Hours of Silverstone with prices from £10 to £35 per day, while a 3-day weekend pass costs just £40. Children 15 years and under are free and all tickets include car parking, unreserved grandstand access, autograph session access, access to the entertainment area and lots more.
