Bom dia de Interlagos! We are just over an hour from the third and final practice session for the 6 Hours of São Paulo during which teams and drivers will finalise their preparations and set up ready for qualifying this afternoon. Practice begins at 10h00 and will run for one hour.
Qualifying follows later today, with the LMGTE Pro and Am classes taking to the Autodrómo José Carlos Pace at Interlagos at 14h45 (local) for a 25-minute session, followed by the LMP1 and LMP2 cars at 15h20 for a further 25 minutes.
Each of the two nominated drivers from each car must set at least two timed laps during qualifying. The average of the four best lap times (the best two of each driver) will serve as the reference time for establishing the grid. It has been incredibly close between all the front-runners in each class, and there are still four world championship titles at stake including the World Manufacturers Championship and the World Cup for GT Manufacturers.
The forecast for today is for overcast skies but with little chance of rain so there will be further chance for the 26 cars competing in tomorrow’s final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship to experience the improved grip and fast lap times of the re-surfaced Interlagos track.
