Toyota Racing took the first race win of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season at the 6 Hours of Imola, to claim a debut victory for the new-look Toyota TR010 Hybrid Hypercar in front of a huge 92,175 fans today.
Sebastien Buemi took the chequered flag to ensure he and teammates Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa claimed maximum points and seal a first win for Toyota since the 2024 8 Hours of Bahrain in what was the Japanese manufacturers 100th WEC race today.
Ferrari took the runners-up position with the #51 499P of reigning champions Antonio Giovinazzi, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi, while the #7 Toyota of Nyck de Vries, Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi completed the podium.
In the LMGT3 category there was a dramatic last hour twist in the race as the leading #10 Garage 59 McLaren hit problems and handed the class win to the #69 Team WRT BMW.
Anthony McIntosh, Daniel Harper and Parker Thompson took BMW’s second win in three races at Imola, heading home the #33 TF Sport Corvette of Jonny Edgar, Blake McDonald and Nicky Catsburg.
Completing the podium and executing a fine recovery race after an early spin was The Bend Manthey Porsche 911 R LMGT3 trio of Yasser Shahin, Richard Lietz and Riccardo Pera.
