Lynn made history at La Sarthe last year, securing the first pole position by an American marque for the legendary twice-round-the-clock contest since 1967, as he spearheaded an all-Cadillac front row lockout in Hyperpole.

However, the British star has been absent from this season’s opening two FIA WEC rounds at Imola and Spa-Francorchamps while awaiting a planned operation for an ongoing neck issue. Due to scheduling challenges surrounding the procedure, his surgery has now been postponed to June, with a recovery period expected to follow.

“It’s obviously hugely disappointing not to be racing at Le Mans, but getting this procedure completed and fully recovering has to be the priority,” Lynn explained. “The timing hasn’t worked out as originally planned due to scheduling difficulties around the surgery, but we now have a clear path forward. I’ll be supporting the team from home and I wish Louis, the #12 crew and everyone at Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA the very best for Le Mans.”

Multiple European Le Mans Series title-winner and 2023 FIA WEC LMP2 class champion Delétraz – a full-time Cadillac driver in IMSA competition in North America – will partner regular drivers Will Stevens and Norman Nato behind the wheel of the #12 V-Series.R again in France, after the trio took the chequered flag ninth earlier this month at Spa The Swiss ace won the LMP2 Pro-Am category at Le Mans last year.

“Our priority is ensuring Alex can complete his surgery, make a full recovery and return to full fitness as soon as possible,” acknowledged Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA Director & Co-Founder, Sam Hignett, revealing that the Anglo-American outfit will liaise with Lynn to determine a plan for the remainder of the campaign in due course.

“Naturally, it’s disappointing that he won’t be with us for Le Mans, but we fully support him in taking the time needed to complete his surgery and rehabilitation properly.

“We’re pleased to have Louis stepping into the car for this week’s Silverstone test and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He already knows the team well and has been part of our preparations, so we’re confident he’ll do a great job alongside the rest of the crew.”
