Warm congratulations to 2012/2013 FIA World Endurance Champions Audi Sport who won their third 24-hour race of the season at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.
The race, which is only for GT3 cars, was extremely hard fought and eventful for many with the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT taking victory by only seven seconds in its home round with the driver trio of Laurens Vanthoor/René Rast/Markus Winkelhock.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans winners Marcel Fässler/André Lotterer/Benoît Tréluyer were headed for a podium finish when, five hours before the end of the race, a rival collided with them. The subsequent penalty imposed on the opponent in the crash was not much consolation, as repairs to the left front suspension and splitter caused the Audi squad to drop to eleventh place.
Congratulations also go to AF Corse’s Marco Cioci and Andrea Bertolini (currently competing in the ELMS for SMP Racing) who, with two further team mates in a Ferrari 458 Italia, won the Pro-Am category and finished 6th overall.
