Fabio Scherer joins United Autosports line-up for 2021

Reigning LMP2 Champions United Autosports has confirmed that Switzerland’s Fabio Scherer will join Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque for the 2021 FIA WEC season.

Scherer, who is 21, began his racing career in karting, winning the Swiss championship twice before switching to car racing in 2016, winning on his ADAC Formula 4 debut. In 2018, he progressed to the F3 European Championship and moved to the FIA International Formula 3 the following year.  Most recently, Scherer raced in DTM for WRT Audi Racing Team.

“I am very happy to be part of the United Autosports team for 2021,” explained Scherer. “To team up with the reigning champions and Le Mans winners Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque is a great opportunity and another big step in my career. The WEC is one of the best known and competitive championships out there and Le Mans will be the highlight of my racing career so far.”

WEC Season 9 will commence in March at Sebring before visiting Spa, Le Mans, Monza, Fuji and Bahrain.
