Fans embracing WEC fever at Lone Star Le Mans

WEC fever was getting as hot as the superb late summer weather at Circuit of the Americas this afternoon.

The fans were taking up their positions to get the best possible view of the pre-race festivities, which included a special performance from KOOZA by Cirque du Soleil on the front straight. Two talented vocalists from the live production of KOOZA also delivered the National Anthem as part of race entertainment.

The green flag was then waved by racing legend Jim Hall, who is one of racing’s all-time great design innovators and is also a man who is loving his first visit to the WEC paddock.

“From what I can see, endurance racing is in very good health,” said Hall. “Having taken a look at these cars, I can see why they are so popular with drivers and fans the world over. The race will be unmissable.”

Some of the fans were collecting autographs, signed memorabilia and other mementos as the race preparations got underway. Danny Lott had brought his family from nearby Killeen for their very first joint visit to a race.

“I treated my kids Jordan and Celeste because we knew it would be a great day as a family,” he said. “The circuit is cool and we are looking forward to seeing the race cars, especially Patrick Dempsey, who my wife says is almost as good looking as I am!”

Fans were enjoying not just the track action, but also the Family Fun Zone, a Ferris wheel and the popular Château COTA - a French Themed village that has included a wine tasting from Le Sommelier, crepes from Crepe Café, Coffee & Espresso.
