Introduced in 2023, the annual accolade celebrates tangible progress in sustainability and social responsibility within FIA WEC, with teams evaluated across six key criteria – Sustainability Strategy, Environmental Commitment, Responsible Economy, Social Commitment, Communication and Carbon Footprint.

In the Hypercar category, newly-crowned Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ World Champion Ferrari added to its trophy count in Bahrain, as the legendary marque’s Head of Endurance, Alessandra Todeschini picked up the DHL Sustainable Endurance Award.

The Italian outfit was praised for its ‘clear sustainability framework, transparency and accountability, measurable results and proven FIA WEC-specific actions’, having provided quantified carbon data (Scopes 1–3), verified methodology and a defined reduction plan.

The team operates under ISO-based environmental standards and tracks improvements year-on-year, with its dossier including verifiable actions on logistics, energy efficiency and operational processes.

In the LMGT3 class, Heart of Racing Team – which runs the #27 Aston Martin Vantage that finished third in Saturday’s season-closing Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain – was selected for its conviction, team-first approach, collective mindset and meaningful day-to-day actions. The award was collected by Race Team Manager, Simon Edwards.

Judges noted that the squad’s ‘commitment to sustainability reflects the spirit of the LMGT3 category – modest in scale, but genuine in intent. From managing logistics responsibly to reducing waste and improving on-site efficiency, the team demonstrates how small, consistent actions can make a real difference. Sustainability is embraced by the entire crew — not as a corporate obligation, but as part of how they race and work together.’

“We need to constantly think about how we can do better in terms of sustainability,” commented Arjan Sissing, Head of Brand Marketing at DHL Group. “This relates not only to the communities where we go racing, but also in terms of how we transport materials and go about our missions. This is a big pillar for the teams and for DHL as partners of this great series.”
