Pole-sitters to be presented with celebratory helmets at Fuji

Beyond the championship point that accompanies it, there will be an extra incentive for drivers to push for pole position during qualifying and Hyperpole for this weekend’s 6 Hours of Fuji – with specially-designed presentation helmets up for grabs to celebrate FIA WEC’s 100th race.

Both sport a gold-and-blue design, with the back of the Hypercar helmet inscribed with the names of all 35 drivers to have claimed pole in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s top-tier to-date. The similarly striking LMGT3 variant draws inspiration from local Japanese culture.

Last year at Fuji Speedway, Alex Lynn secured the top spot on the starting grid for Cadillac for the first time, while home hero Kamui Kobayashi is the Hypercar qualifying lap record-holder around the 4.563km, 16-turn layout, having stopped the clocks with a time of 1m27.794s in 2023.

Both drivers will be targeting a repeat performance this weekend, while fellow Toyota stars Sébastien Buemi and Brendon Hartley as well as Cadillac’s Earl Bamber and experienced Peugeot ace Loïc Duval are others to have claimed pole for the event.

Qualifying will get underway at 14:20 local time tomorrow (Saturday, 27 September), with LMGT3 followed by Hypercar. All of the action can be watched live on FIA WEC TV. The celebratory helmets will be presented to the pole-winners during the post-session Hyperpole ceremony.
