Michelle Gatting has unfortunately been obliged to withdraw from this week’s 93rd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (11-15 June), after sustaining foot fractures during a pit-stop driver change in yesterday’s Official Test.
A statement issued today by the Iron Dames and Manthey revealed that while clearly ‘deeply disappointing for Michelle and the entire team’, the Dane is ‘in good spirits and now focusing on her recovery’.
Official Porsche driver Gatting will be replaced in the #85 entry for the event – round four of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign – by Sarah Bovy, who will step in to partner Rahel Frey and Célia Martin in the Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3.
The experienced Belgian is no stranger to either the Iron Dames line-up or Le Mans. Bovy was part of the history-making all-female crew that triumphed in Bahrain in 2023 in the final race of FIA WEC’s LMGTE Am era – alongside Gatting and Frey – and has made four previous starts in the twice-round-the-clock La Sarthe contest, finishing inside the top five in-class in both of the most recent two editions.
