Ho Pin Tung: What would I buy my team mates for Xmas
With the bells jingling and Santa revved up and waiting for the Christmas pitlane to open, we thought we would ask some of the WEC stars a question of kindness and consideration this Yuletide! What would they buy their team mates for Christmas this year?
Ho-Pin Tung has been a regular in the WEC for many years, having made his debut at the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans with the KCMG squad.
He has been one of the linchpins of the Jackie Chan DC Racing team since 2017 onwards, narrowly missing out on the title last season.
This year he is sharing the No.38 Jackie Chan DC Racing ORECA-Gibson with teammates Stéphane Richelmi and Gabriel Aubry, scoring brilliant LMP2 wins at Silverstone and Shanghai.
So, Ho-Pin, what gifts are you wrapping for Steph and Gabi this year?
“Well, it was a hard decision but in the end I thought I would be really generous with my great teammates,” said Tung, with more than a twinkle of mischief in his eyes!
“For Gabi, I think a large supply of the most potent Szechuan peppers we can find!
“The reason is that Gabi cannot eat anything spicy and we have had some hilarious moments making him try to adapt to the hot stuff! So we would get him some nice peppers and have some more fun!”
And what about Stephane?
“I was a little bit unkind with Gabi, but for Stéph we will just be kind,” he says with a giggle.
“Stéph is very good at table-tennis and he seems to be the best among us. So, a table, some bats and balls for him. This will keep his natural reflexes and reaction times sharp so even at Christmas time he can train and make sure we get that WEC LMP2 champions’ trophy next year!”
