The honour of giving the traditional green flag send off for the final race of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship will go to five-time 500cc MotoGP champion Mick Doohan.
The legendary Australian motorcycling champion is in Bahrain to support his great friend and countryman Mark Webber as he concludes his motorsport career today.
Doohan will wave the cars away as they begin their final formation laps this afternoon before the start of the Bapco 6 Hours of Bahrain scheduled to start at 16.00 local time.
Doohan, a great enthusiast for all disciplines of racing, took five consecutive victories in 500cc MotoGP Grands Prix between 1994 and 1998, all with Honda.
