LMGTE Am: New faces get set for battle
10/04/2015

The LMGTE Am class for Pro-Am squads of drivers often provides some of the most intriguing strategic racing as Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum ranked drivers go head to head in the fiercely fought class.

In 2014 Aston Martin took the silverware with the famous ‘Dane Train’. This season the Scandinavian express has moved into the LMGTE Pro class but Aston still has its eyes on retaining the crown with two entries that feature a host of new and familiar names in the cockpit. Stuart Hall and Roald Goethe already have fifteen WEC appearances between them but Mathias Lauda and Francesco Castellacci both make their debut at Silverstone this weekend.

Taking the fight to Aston will be two cars each from Ferrari (AF Corse and SMP Racing) and two Porsche 911 RSRs for the Proton team which splits its entries for Dempsey-Proton Racing with global acting superstar Patrick Dempsey, and the Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing car.

The rumble of Chevy power returns to WEC with the Larbre Competition Corvette C7 entry for Kristian Poulsen, Gianluca Roda and Paolo Ruberti.

Five key topics to look out for at Silverstone

1.       Who will emerge the most consistent bronze between Paul Dalla Lana and Roald Goethe?

2.       Who will be best of the young guns at Aston. Stuart Hall or Francesco Castellacci?

3.       Will the Ferrari master – Andrea Bertolini continue to rack up the poles and wins for SMP Racing after his ELMS success in 2014?

4.       Can Klaus Bachler build on his excellent debut season of WEC?

5.       Will Patrick Dempsey score his maiden WEC class win on his first visit to Silverstone?
