
The no20 Porsche 919 hybrid led the field at the end of the first 90-minute session of the 6 Hours of São Paulo weekend when Brendon Hartley lapped the 3.4km Interlagos in a time of 1m19.172, 0.339s faster than the no14 Porsche. The next four places were filled by Audi, Toyota, Audi and Toyota, with the no1 Audi R18 taking the third slot on the time sheets ahead of the no8 Toyota of Anthony Davidson with a 1m20.303, 1.131 slower than the leading Porsche.
In LMP1-L everything ran to the script with the no12 Rebellion taking the top spot ahead of the no13 car with a 1m23.182. The no9 Lotus brought out the Full Course Yellow boards late into the session when Lucas Auer stopped near Turn 3 before firing up the AER engine to rejoin the session. The Lotus finished 2.5 seconds adrift of the no12 Rebellion at the end of the 90-minutes.
In LMP2 it was the two championship rivals at the top of the timing sheets with the no26 G-Drive Racing Ligier ahead of the no27 SMP Racing Oreca by 0.9 seconds. The race winning KCMG Oreca was third fastest in LMP2 , 0.05 behind the no27 SMP Oreca.
