Lucas Auer to join Lotus LMP1 line up for 6H COTA

The Lotus LMP1 team has announced that Lucas Auer will be joining its driver line up for the 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas, the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship on Saturday 20th September.

The young Austrian made his debut in the FIA WEC last year in the 6 Hours of Bahrain, also with Lotus, and in Austin will be sharing driving duties of the No.9 Lotus T129-AER with Frenchman Christophe Bouchut and Briton James Rossiter.

Auer, who will celebrate his 20th birthday the week before the Texan race, is a race winner in the 2014 FIA Formula 3 European Championship and is looking forward to his participation in the Lone Star Le Mans weekend of racing entertainment.

“I know neither the track nor the car,” Auer admits. “But I learn quickly and I am looking forward to this new challenge. I reckon that the step from the LMP2 last year to the current LMP1 car will be considerable, but I don’t see that as a problem either. Quite the contrary!

“After my participation at Bahrain last year, I always stayed in touch with the Lotus team. I am delighted that I will now get another chance to race with them.”
