Maurizio Mediani: “We have been doing rain dances"
01/11/2014

SMP Racing driver Maurizio Mediani believes that the volatile weather in Shanghai this weekend can only be positive news for himself and his team mates Nicolas Minassian and LMP2 points leader Sergey Zlobin.

Mediani, who along with his team mates has scored two podium positions in the last two events at COTA and Fuji, is hoping to protect Zlobin’s lead (16pts) at Shanghai this weekend and would favour more inclement weather.

“It is no secret that the Michelin tyres are very, very strong in wet conditions,” said Mediani. “We saw yesterday that we are usually the quickest in these conditions so we do not mind more rain. We have been doing rain dances in the pits!”

“But seriously these conditions play into our hands and although the forecast is mostly dry for race day, we saw yesterday that showers come in quickly. The car feels good for us in these conditions but even in the dry I think we can score some big points this weekend.”
