As the new season bursts in to action the AMR team have welcomed new drivers and new vibrant partners to its FIA WEC squad in 2015.
As well as the iconic Gulf liveried #95, #96 and #98 cars, Aston Martin Racing will have its #97 and #99 entries in the colours of Hanergy and Valero respectively.
Aston Martin Racing boss John Gaw told us: “Our new partners fit in superbly to our racing philosophy and also the fabric of the WEC which is innovative and progressive technology in racing and the automotive world. We have another great line-up of cars in 2015 and we will be out to challenge for both titles. The competition is always fierce but this is a World Championship and this is why we race here.”
Mathias Lauda joins the team for 2015 and has already driven at Daytona and Sebring to get familiar with the Aston Martin Vantage V8.
Lauda’s team mates are Pedro Lamy and Paul Dalla Lana this season, and Dalla Lana was impatient to get started in the competitive LMGTE Am category in 2015. Dalla Lana, as a bronze categorised driver, has to be one of the two drivers that qualify due to changes in the class sporting regulations.
“I am really looking forward to racing with Pedro again and also Mathias in the WEC,” said the Canadian. “We all know each other quite well now after Sebring and Daytona. For me it will be an added challenge to qualify this season but I am ready for the extra track time and challenge ahead. I am sure it will be great viewing for the fans.”
Dalla Lana was also enjoying the conversations with his children as he was racing with the son of a triple F1 World Champion Niki Lauda.
“They think it is pretty cool that I am racing with Mathias,” he said. “And actually so do I. We have all watched Rush and we thought it was an ultra-cool film. It would be fantastic to see Niki at a race this season.”
