The FIA World Endurance Championship is delighted to announce that world-famous Hollywood star, and current WEC team owner, Patrick Dempsey, will wave the green flag at 12 noon on Sunday 17 April for the start of the 2016 season, the 6 Hours of Silverstone.

Patrick Dempsey competed in the WEC for the full 2015 season, winning the LMGTE Am class in the 6 Hours of Fuji, but has stepped back from the cockpit this season due to family and filming commitments.

His team, Dempsey-Proton Racing is competing in the LMGTE Pro category with a Porsche 911 RSR, and he will be supporting GT World Champion Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen for the start of their title defence.

The American star will be coming to Silverstone to watch the start of the new WEC season with his wife and family and will be on the grid before the start, and will wave the green flag to signal the start of another thrilling season ahead.
