Samba Beats and Endurance Feats!
30/11/2014

The unique atmosphere of the Autódromo José Carlos Pace brings out some of the most passionate and vocal fans in endurance racing. With the weather dry and sunny on race day morning, thousands arrived at the circuit to soak up the atmosphere of the final round in the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship.

The samba beats drummed out in unison with the chatter between fans and drivers at the official autograph session this morning. Among them were Celson Ciaro-Silva and Andre Souza who both travelled from the Diadema area of Sao Paulo.

“We have come to all of the FIA WEC since 2012 and we enjoy this racing so much,” said Ciaro-Silva. “You know when we meet the drivers like this and share a joke and can laugh with them it makes for a special day for us. The different cars we see here is like nothing we see all year and we love to hear the noises and see great drivers like Heidfeld, Webber and Buemi who we saw in F1 over the years.”

Souza was also highly enthusiastic as he claimed signatures from almost the entire grid during the autograph session.

“I support Porsche and Webber. Today they win, win, win!” said the grinning Paulista confidently. “We come here yesterday and see the pole position by Mark and his team. We are so happy. The race will be nice but sad also. We love Tommy K and we will cry when he finishes his final lap. We love you Tommy.”

With fans like this evoking the true spirit of endurance racing, the FIA WEC finale at Interlagos today is set to reach fever pitch with the anticipation of the closest battle for supremacy yet in 2014.
