Spring sunshine sets scene for WEC opener
The long winter is over and the WEC has arrived. Today is the day tens of thousands of horsepower will welcome tens of thousands of fans at the track and watching at home across the globe.
Scenic spring sunshine was bathing the already busy paddock and the drivers and teams were huddled in meetings discussing strategies and plans for the race ahead.
With autograph sessions, pit walks and a surprise globally recognised film star set to join the fans in the paddock as the anticipation levels start to reach fever pitch.
Family entertainment in the paddock and across the circuit, top class support races and a festival atmosphere was the perfect start to a day which promises more unforgettable WEC action throughout the intensely competitive categories.
Porsche v Toyota, a new era of LMP2 action and a no-holds barred battle between multiple manufacturers in LMGTE Pro will headline dozens of plots and sub-plots this afternoon and for the season ahead.
The big race is scheduled to begin at 12.00 this afternoon.
