Hypercar

  • The #36 Alpine heads the field in the final Free Practice session ahead of the all-important qualifying period this afternoon for the 2026 Rolex 6 Hours of Sao Paulo
  • Victor Martins continued his impressive debut season in the FIA WEC by setting the fastest time of the weekend so far with a peak effort of 1m24.038s in the A424 Hypercar he shares with Jules Gounon and Frédéric Makowiecki
  • That lap by Martins proved to be 0.165s quicker than the #19 Genesis Magma GMR001 driven by Paul-Loup Chatin, Daniel Juncadella and Mathieu Jaminet as the South Korean manufacturer continued strong form
  • Aston Martin The Heart of Racing Valkyrie took third position as the #007 again proved to be at the sharp end of the times with Harry Tincknell and Tom Gamble, one of the three duos in the field, continued their promising pace
  • Genesis Magma Racing got two cars in the top four as the #17 GMR001 Hypercar of local ace Pipo Derani, Andre Lotterer and Mathys Jaubert lap 0.192s off the leading GMR001 for fourth position
  • The quickest Ferrari in the session as the 50 Ferrari AF Corse 499P as Nicklas Nielsen, Antonio Fuoco and Miguel Molina proved that Ferrari could challenge for pole later in the day
  • Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA placed sixth with the #38 car of Earl Bamber, Sebastien Bourdais and Jack Aitken make it five manufacturers in the top six positions, and they are all covered by just 0.251s
  • The #51 Ferrari AF Corse Ferrari 499P ends session in seventh place ahead of the #35 Alpine
  • Paul Di Resta in the #93 Peugeot got hit by Parker Thompson in the #69 Team WRT BMW at Juncao corner. The Scot spins but continues undamaged.
  • Issues for the sister Peugeot as Malthe Jakobsen is forced to spend most of the session in the pits after a technical issues is rectified. The Dane emerged from the pits and the car ended the session in ninth position
  • Completing the top ten in FP3 was the #009 Aston Martin Valkyrie driven by Alex Riberas and Marco Sørensen
  • A Full Course Yellow after 35 minutes for debris on track at Turn 10 is the only caution of another clean session

LMGT3

  • Rui Andrade topped the times in the #61 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 as the Angolan peaks on a best lap of 1m34.283s
  • That effort by Andrade is remarkably equalled by the #87 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus, driven by Clemens Schmid, as a rare dead-heat scenario plays out in the ultra-competitive LMGT3 category. But as Andrade set the time first it means the Mercedes heads the timing screens
  • Simon Mann set a 1m34.416s in the #21 VISTA AF Corse Ferrari to ensure the Prancing Horse continued eye-catching pace, while the #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang took fourth fastest lap as Giammarco Levorato set the fastest lap
  • Rounding out the top six was the #69 Team WRT BMW M4 and the #10 Garage59 McLaren
  • It was a busy session for the #69 Team WRT BMW car as Anthony McIntosh spun the car at Turn 10 and lightly tapped the tyre wall with the rear wing of the BMW M4 but was able to continue
  • #34 Racing Team Turkey by TF Corvette sat out the first five minutes of the session as it carried over a penalty from FP2 yesterday after contact with the #93 Peugeot TotalEnergies 9X8
  • The championship leading #33 TF Sport Corvette of Ben Keating, Jonny Edgar and Nicolás Varrone brings up the rear in 18th position in the LMGT3 category
  • Qualifying is scheduled to take place at 14.50 and 15.40 local time this afternoon
