The Headlines from FP3
- The third and final free practice session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya saw the first-ever bespoke 60-minute session for LMGT3 cars this morning
- In dry but misty conditions, it was the #21 VISTA AF Corse Ferrari 296 Evo that led the way, as the Simon Mann, Alessio Rovera and François Hériau-crewed car set a best time of 1m41.696s, with Mann claiming the accolade of the quickest lap
- That effort proved to be 0.4s ahead of the #61 Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG entry, as the three-pointed star again proved to be right on the pace after a strong performance in the opening two free practice sessions on Friday
- Akkodis ASP Team similarly showed strong, consistent pace as the #87 Lexus RC F of José María López, Clemens Schmid and Petru Umbrărescu claimed third place
- McLaren was a threat once more as the #58 Garage 59 car took fourth; Alexander West, Benjamin Goethe and Finn Gehrsitz are aiming to bounce back this weekend from the huge race-ending Fuji accident that befell them
- The highest-placed Proton Competition Ford Mustang was the #88 entry crewed by Logan Sargeant, Giammarco Levorato and Stefano Gattuso, in fifth position
- The Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin squad took sixth with the #23 Vantage AMR piloted by Eduardo Barrichello, Gray Newell and Jonny Adam – the trio eager to fight back following a rare retirement in Japan last month
- The second of the VISTA AF Corse 296s – driven by Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci and Davide Rigon – was seventh as the Prancing Horse aims to end an 11-race winless streak in LMGT3
- Porsche crept into the top 10 as Manthey’s 2025 title-winning #92 911 GT3 R ended the session in eighth position, ahead of the #69 Team WRT BMW and #78 Akkodis ASP Team Lexus
- The championship-leading #33 TF Sport Corvette again struggled to get into the leading bunch, completing the session 15th fastest of the 18 runners
