The magnificent Mount Fuji, which has been covered in cloud since the FIA WEC arrived in Japan, was on full display as the teams and drivers prepare for the first of three days of track action at Fuji International Speedway.
Sunshine and spectators…
A huge line of fans queued patiently in bright sunshine at the circuit's gates this morning, waiting for them to open, as anticipation grows ahead of the first of two 90-minute practice sessions for the FIA WEC at 11h00 local (04h00 CET).
The magnificent LMP1 hybrid cars from Audi, Porsche and Toyota, as well as the beguiling LMP2 machines from Ligier, ORECA and Morgan, will be on track at the same time as the beautiful luxury GTE models from Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The second practice will be held between 15h30 and 17h00 local.
Racers of today welcoming the media of tomorrow…
In between the track action there will be a pre-event press conference which will not only feature drivers from all the main manufacturers including Mark Webber, Kazuki Nakajima and Keiko Ihara, but also see the presence of 28 children from the 5th Grade at Suyama School. Alongside the international and national media, they will get the opportunity to sit in the conference and ask a question of any of the drivers present!
