The FIA World Endurance Championship’s reimagined TV graphics package has been designed to catapult the series into its exhilarating next era, says Communication and Marketing Director, Marius Louvet.
The new graphics will debut in today’s FP3 session ahead of Sunday’s Rolex 6 Hours of São Paulo – round five of the 2025 FIA WEC campaign. The project has been almost a year in the making, and is set to revolutionise the viewing experience for fans – by offering more information than ever before to enable them to follow the rhythm of the races and the many storylines that play out over the course of the season.
“The FIA WEC brand is getting stronger and stronger and has a distinctive identity,” explains Louvet. “The existing TV graphics had been on-screen for five years, and in order to remain relevant and worthy of our world championship status, it was time for an update. We were looking for a big revolution while maintaining and reinforcing FIA WEC’s unmistakeable spirit.
“We recognised the need to be clearer in the way we explain and editorialise the races, and to that end, we have worked closely with the available telemetry and data to create even more incisive and in-depth graphics – and we will continue to do so moving forward.
“For ten years, FIA WEC was geared predominantly around independent teams, with no major marketing KPIs. Over the past three seasons, manufacturer involvement in the series has increased massively, and we are – quite rightly – constantly challenged by all of our stakeholders to ensure what we offer is cutting-edge in every area.
“Our key asset compared to other series – where everything is focused on the personalities – is the cars. It goes without saying that we have a lot of world-class drivers in the championship, but at the end of the day, the cars are the stars in FIA WEC and it is important that we celebrate that.
“One of our biggest USPs is the freedom we offer competitors to showcase their own identities, and that needs to be reflected in the way they are represented on-screen. Since the start of the year, each brand has been allocated its own unique colour in the paddock and pit garages as well as on the series’ social media channels and app. The same can now be said of our broadcast package.”
Taking inspiration from MotoGP and Formula 1 – the acknowledged leaders in the field – FIA WEC enlisted the support of AE Live Group for the graphic design and Al Kamel Systems for the software. It has been a tireless ten-month process of innovation and refinement, and Louvet is convinced the end product will make races more easily understandable.
“Off-track as well as on, 2025 has been a big year for FIA WEC, with the launch of a new website, new OTT app design, a refreshed social media look and new paddock and garage branding,” the Frenchman concludes. “The TV graphics were the final missing piece of the puzzle. That puzzle is now complete.”
