WEC Drivers Introduced to the FIA Race True Programme

At the start of the recent WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps weekend the drivers and teams racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship attended a presentation of ‘Race True’, the FIA’s anti doping programme.

The programme, which is fully supported by the WEC organisation, is led by Sandra Silveira-Camargo, the FIA Head of Medical Affairs, and supported by the FIA Medical Affairs Co-ordinator Magali Louis.

In line with all other major international sporting authorities, the FIA believes that doping tests are necessary.  However, it also believes that anti-doping education is even more important because it helps to raise the awareness of the drivers in order to avoid putting their careers at risk.

Many of the WEC’s top drivers are already part of national programmes in their own countries, and anti-doping tests have been run by the ACO for many years.

The drivers were made aware of the contents of an e-learning course, which includes all the key points of which a driver must be aware.  The course takes around 30 minutes to complete and is available in English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Portuguese and Arabic.

The programme will continue during the season with further presentations in other regions to ensure that all WEC drivers are fully informed.
