24H Le Mans Virtual: E-Team WRT leads after opening hour
After the opening hour of 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual, it's E-Team WRT that leads the way out of the LMP crews. Meanwhile, Dempsey-Proton Racing heads the 20-strong GTE field.
LMP:
- The No. 30 of E-Team WRT dominates ahead of Team Redline's No. 20 entry driven by Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen. The No. 16 Veloce Esports LMP car at the hands of Stoffel Vandoorne is third.
- Pole-sitters ByKolles-Burst Esport led for the race's opening laps but Tom Dillmann received a penalty for a jump start, dropping the No. 4 car to 15th
- The No. 8 Toyota Gazoo Racing entry driven by Brendon Hartley came off the track at the Indianapolis turn on lap two (now in 47th position)
- Alonso's No. 14 LMP car came into contact with Simona de Silvestro in the No. 94 car as the Spaniard approached Tertre Rouge. The FA-RB Allinsports entry received a stop-and-go penalty, spending a lengthy stint in the pits
GTE
- The No. 88 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911 driven by Loek Hartog dominated the first hour of the race. Second is the No. 93 Porsche Esports Team, just ahead of the Aston Martin Vantage AMR No. 95 with Nicki Thiim at the wheel
- Behind, the fight is very close between Aston Martin, Porsche, Corvette and Ferrari
- The No. 52 AF Corse Ferrari (Ferrari 488 GTE) driven by Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc is currently 10th in class
