All eyes on Jackie Chan DC Racing in Shanghai

When worldwide movie star Jackie Chan and race car driver David Cheng teamed up to form Jackie Chan DC Racing in 2015, they had no idea their efforts to bring attention to motor racing in China would yield such success.

At the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year, as the factory hybrids of Toyota and Porsche fell by the wayside at the world’s most gruelling endurance race, the JOTA Sport-run LMP2 team stunned the world by taking the overall lead.

While outright victory wasn’t to be, David Cheng standing proud on the Le Mans podium holding aloft the iconic trophy and celebrating his Jackie Chan DC Racing team’s extraordinary second place overall was one of the defining moments of 2017. And the team is on full attack mode for the Super Season as well!

Let the dragon dance!
As the FIA WEC heads to Shanghai (the 6 Hours of Shanghai will begin at 11h00 local time on Sunday 18 November), the Jackie Chan DC Racing squad is just one point behind Signatech Alpine Matmut in both the LMP2 Teams’ standings and aiming for its first World Endurance title.

In Japan the team celebrated its second consecutive 1-2 in class, with the all-Malaysian line up of Jazeman Jaafar, Weiron Tan and Nabil Jeffri taking their first WEC win.  So what beckons for the Chinese-entered team in Shanghai?

Off track and ahead of the racing action, the six drivers will be representing the WEC in a "Jia Ding District Day Trip" which will give them a unique opportunity to experience the local culture, visit attractions and try local food. The event is supported by Jia Ding Tourism Bureau, An Ting People's Government and Shanghai International Automobile City Co., Ltd.

On track the battles will undoubtedly be intense, as always, but Jackie Chan DC Racing is currently on a roll.  Will it be a three-peat?  Not long to wait now to find out.
