Alonso, Toyota and Aston Martin secure their Le Mans Virtual spots

Star names from across the automotive and the sim racing world continue to announce their entries for the upcoming 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual (13-14 June).

First on this morning’s announcement list was FA/RB Allinsports who will be fronted by none other than reigning FIA World Endurance Champion and two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Fernando Alonso.  Alonso, who is also a two-time F1 World Champion, will be joined in the LMP team by another F1 legend – Brazil’s Rubens Barrichello.  The duo will be accompanied at the virtual wheel by sim racers Olli Pahkala and Jarl Teien.

Toyota Gazoo Racing have also revealed their crews for its two LMP entries.  The team’s highly experienced WEC trio made up of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez will drive the No. 7 car, joined by sim racer Maxime Brient. Meanwhile, the No. 8 car sees Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Kenta Yamashita share driving duties with sim specialist, Yuri Kasdorp. 

British manufacturer Aston Martin Racing have also entered three cars in the highly-competitive GTE field, with the No. 95 car Aston Martin Vantage GTE being driven by Nicki Thiim, Richard Westbrook, Lasse Sorensen and sim racer Manuel Biancolilla.  The No. 97 car is comprised of Alex Lynn, Charlie Eastwood, Harry Tincknell and sim specialist, Tiziano Briono. Meanwhile, No. 98 sees driving duties shared by British trio Darren Turner, Ross Gunn and Jonny Adam plus sim racer Giuseppe De Fuoco.

Mahle Racing also had a star-studded driver reveal this morning as it was announced that Austria’s Ferdinand Habsburg would be joined by the inaugural W Series Champion, Jamie Chadwick.  Famous sim racing influencer and content creator Jimmy Broadbent will join the duo, alongside another sim specialist Kevin Rotting. 

Elsewhere, 2 Seas Motorsport confirmed its team with professional drivers Bahrain’s Isa Bin Abdulla Alkhalifa and Britain’s Oliver Rowland.  They will accompanied by Rory MacDuff and Devin Braune in the No. 33 LMP entry.

Finally, Jacque Villeneuve’s virtual racing outfit FEED Racing announced that Simon Pilate and Theo Pourchaire would compete in the No. 99 GTE Corvette C7. R entry with sim racers Axel Petit and Alexandre Vromant.
