Alpine have again taken control of the 1000 Miles of Sebring after the race was re-started behind safety car at the start of the fifth hour.

Porsche fight to the front of LMGTE Pro after Corvette tyre strategy compromised by race stoppage.

Close battle between United Autosports USA and WRT in LMP2, while Aston Martin in control of LMGTE Am.

The Headlines after 6 Hours at Sebring: 

Hypercar 

  • Alpine ELF Team take advantage of enforced double pit stop for No.8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid as race is resumed after red flag for No.7 accident
  • Brendon Hartley has to take an emergency splash of fuel before the green flag and then a full stop a lap later
  • This allows Alpine to stretch away at the front and with two hours to go they hold a 80-second gap over the remaining Toyota
  • Jose-Maria Lopez is released from medical centre after precautionary checks following large accident that red flagged the race
  • Glickenhaus Racing penalised for overtaking before the green flag re-start as Ryan Briscoe accelerates passed Corvette just before the start-line
  • The Glickenhaus 007LMH places third but a lap down from the leader

LMGTE Pro 

  • Thrilling battle continues on resumption of race as Tommy Milner defends from charging No.92 Porsche 911 RSR driven by Kevin Estre
  • Estre makes the move and establishes lead before Michael Christensen takes over to stabilise advantage
  • No.91 Porsche 911 RSR of Gimmi Bruni and Richard Lietz follow suit and overtake the Corvette which was on worn tyres just before the red flag flew
  • Gap between the Porches is 15-seconds with two hours remaining
  • Nick Tandy returns to cockpit of No.64 Corvette in fifth hour as he attempts to narrow the gap to the leading pair
  • AF Corse Ferraris continue to race in fourth and fifth in LMGTE Pro as No.51 488 GTE Evo heads No.52

LMP2  

  • No.23 United Autosports USA machine leads LMP2 after double stint by Paul di Resta hands over to Oliver Jarvis’ first stint at the wheel
  • Jarvis forced to defend though as charging Rene Rast in WRT entry closes during the sixth hour
  • Rast sits 21 seconds behind Jarvis but pair are on different tyre strategies as final two hours arrive
  • Third position is the No.22 United Autosports car driven at six hour mark by Phil Hanson but British ace loses out to Norman Nato in Real Team WRT LMP2 and slips to fourth

LMGTE Am  

  • Northwest AMR with David Pittard at the wheel for his second stint enjoy 32-second lead in the LMGTE Am category
  • But rapid No.56 Project 1 Porsche driven by Ben Barnicoat starts to catch the Aston Martin Vantage setting up potential challenge for win
  • TF Sport in the hunt as Florian Latorre takes to the cockpit and is just eight seconds adrift of second place
  • No.77 Dempsey Proton Porsche loses some momentum after brief spin for Christian Ried in fifth hour and they place fourth in class behind with Sebastien Priaulx at wheel
