Best endurance racing films to watch on TV

To help pass the time as many of us remain confined indoors, we’ve created a list of some of our favourite endurance racing related films and documentaries to watch over the weekend. Enjoy!

1.    Le Mans (1971)
Film
Where: Netflix & Amazon Prime 
Arguably one of the best sportscar racing films ever made. The original Le Mans film featuring Steve McQueen and directed by Lee H Katzin was filmed on location at the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans. If you haven’t watched it, you’re missing out! 

2.    Ford v Ferrari / Le Mans 66 (2019)

Where: Amazon Prime & Sky Store (UK)
Featuring Hollywood stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale and now available on Amazon Prime. The story tells the epic story between the famous battle between Ford and Ferrari for Le Mans supremacy back in the 1960s

3.    The Gentleman Driver (2018)
Documentary 
Where: Netflix & Amazon Prime
About:  Featuring likes of Aston Martin Racing’s Paul Dalla Lana, this special 90-minute documentary tells the story of the WEC’s LMGTE Am category and some of its best-known gentleman drivers.

4.    Sir Chris Hoy: From Velodrome to Le Mans (2016)

Where: Netflix and YouTube
A one-hour documentary which follows six-time Olympic Champion Sir Chris Hoy as he pursues his childhood dream of competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans

5.    Shelby American (2019)
Documentary
Where: Netflix 
A two-hour documentary featuring interviews and vintage footage, the story traces America’s Carroll Shelby's life from farmer to driver to entrepreneur.

6.    The 24 Hour War (2016)
Documentary
Where: Netflix 
As the name suggests, another documentary (1h40m) about the legendary fight between Ford and Ferrari in the 1960s.
