BMW unveils new-look LMGT3 line-ups for 2026

Team WRT has significantly shaken up its LMGT3 driving crews ahead of the forthcoming FIA World Endurance Championship campaign, with the incumbent Augusto Farfus set to be joined by a quintet of newcomers and returnees.

The BMW-affiliated outfit achieved four podium finishes in 2025 with its pair of M4 LMGT3 Evos, but of the six drivers who contributed to that success, only former FIA GT World Cup winner Farfus remains on-board, as the Brazilian prepares to embark upon his third consecutive season with the Belgian squad.

The long-time BMW M works driver will be reunited in the #32 entry with old Team WRT acquaintances Sean Gelael and Darren Leung, with whom he triumphed at Imola and scooped the runner-up spoils in-class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year. More recently, the Indonesian and Brit emerged victorious at COTA back in September for United Autosports.

“I’m really looking forward to driving with Sean and Darren again,” Farfus enthused. “We had a lot of success together in 2024. We are now entering our third season in FIA WEC and have substantially more experience than back then. Accordingly, the goal is to be fully competitive and fight for the title.”

It is all change, meanwhile, in the sister #69 car, where Racing Spirit of Léman refugee Anthony McIntosh – who made such a positive impression after joining the FIA WEC grid for the second half of 2025 – will be flanked by IMSA GTD category race-winner Parker Thompson and BMW M works driver, Dan Harper.

The 25-year-old Northern Irishman clinched the overall crown in the British GT Championship two years ago and the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup’s ‘Bronze’ laurels 12 months later, both in tandem with Leung. In 2025, he established himself as a consistent front-runner at GTD Pro level in IMSA competition, securing the series’ Michelin Endurance Cup trophy alongside Max Hesse.

Like several of his new team-mates, Harper participated in the end-of-season Rookie Test with BMW in Bahrain just over a month ago.

“FIA WEC is a new racing series with new circuits for me,” he acknowledged. “I’m extremely excited to be competing in an official FIA World Championship. The highlight will obviously be Le Mans, and I’m proud to have made it this far to be able to take part in this event.

“I’ve gained a lot of experience over the past few years, and my first impression of Parker and Anthony is very good. Together with Team WRT, we will certainly have a lot of fun and form a strong team.”
