Entry list released for 6 Hours of Fuji

The 6 Hours of Fuji later this month (25-27 September) could well play a pivotal role in an increasingly tense title fight – and the entry list has now been released for round six of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign.

Fuji Speedway – located spectacularly in the shadow of Japan’s highest peak, from which the circuit takes its name – has hosted 12 FIA WEC races to-date, nine of which have been won by Toyota.

The home favourite will be targeting a tenth triumph this year, especially after coming so close to a third victory of the season last time out at Austin’s Circuit of The Americas, where a hydraulic issue cruelly forced the #7 crew into retirement from a comfortable lead barely ten minutes from the chequered flag.

Be that as it may, Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway and Texas star Nyck de Vries remain tied on points at the top of the Drivers’ table with Robin Frijns and René Rast, after their BMW rivals similarly failed to score in the US.

In the Manufacturers’ battle, Ferrari’s first success of its title-defending season has hauled the Prancing Horse firmly into the hunt for honours, setting the scene for a fascinating three-way fight over the closing stages of the campaign.

The only change in the entry list compared to COTA is the #12 Cadillac – pole-sitter at Fuji last year – slimming back down to a two-driver line-up for the event, prior to the anticipated return of Alex Lynn for the final two rounds.

In LMGT3, meanwhile, a difficult race for TF Sport in Austin allied to a strong result for VISTA AF Corse has narrowed the gap at the summit of the standings. Corvette and Ferrari finished respectively first and second 12 months ago in Japan, so another captivating contest looks assured…
