Perfect warm and sunny conditions greeted the crowds as they began to descend on Circuit Paul Ricard this morning. The WEC fans were getting set to witness the dawn of what promises to be the best ever season of FIA WEC action.
The 29 cars reflected beautiful spring sunshine as a perfect scene was set for the public to enjoy free access at the track where all the WEC teams are preparing for the 2016 WEC season opener at Silverstone in three weeks’ time.
Fans will be able to meet their heroes at Paul Ricard today at a specially organised lunchtime autograph session which will see the stars of WEC signing posters, cards and indeed anything else presented to the competitors.
Seven hours of track time will enable fans plenty of time to get familiar with new entries and new helmets in the WEC season. Former F1 drivers Will Stevens and Vitaly Petrov have been welcomed in to the WEC family. So too, young single-seater talents such as Gustavo Menezes, Stephane Richelmi and Matt Rao.
So, the ambience is set, the cars have fired up and the Easter holiday crowds are flocking to the traditional home of the WEC season launch. Like spring, 2016 is very much alive and kicking.
