Fans going wild for FIA World Endurance Championship action

While the drivers and teams are making final preparations for the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the America’s qualifying session this evening, the race fans are doing likewise.

Stocking up on suppliers for their weekend of Lone Star Le Mans action, many were still buzzing with adrenalin after witnessing a frenetic free practice three session.

Joel Hillsden from Scottsdale, Arizona made the trip yesterday to ensure he didn’t miss a moment of track action.

“We have planned this trip for some five months because we wanted to see the best endurance race cars in the world,” he said. “We get one chance a year to see the heroes of Le Mans and we wouldn’t miss this for anything.”

Joel’s friend and RV (Recreational Vehicles) companion this weekend Adam Haynes agreed and was in no doubt as to whom he was supporting in the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

“Porsche all the way for me,” he said enthusiastically. “I love the 911 shape, it is iconic and I have followed it racing for over twenty years. I will be following the prototypes as well because I believe they can win as well.

“The track is fantastic and the facilities really good too. We have told our friends back home about this so next year there will be a whole tribe of us coming.”

Fans will be treated to a feast of on and off track action at COTA tomorrow. There will be truly something for everyone with American rock legends – Blue Oyster Cult performing pre-race at the circuit’s 14,000-seat Austin 360 Amphitheater. In addition there will be many attractions for children, cowboy rodeo ropers and….Armadillo racing!
